We're just 350 metres from Termini Station, about a 5-minute walk, with the Repubblica and Castro Pretorio metro stations nearby.

These are three different types of accommodation: a hotel has a fixed on-site reception and multiple floors of rooms, often with room service; a B&B is a family-run property with breakfast included; a guesthouse — our category — is legally similar to a small hotel with fewer than 7 rooms, with a private bathroom in every room and essential services (24/7 phone reception, daily housekeeping, linen provided), at better value than a traditional hotel. Lexie Suites Guesthouse combines comfort and convenience with direct, personal hospitality.

From Fiumicino (FCO) the easiest way is the Leonardo Express train, which runs directly to Termini Station in about 32 minutes; from there we're a 5-6 minute walk away. From Ciampino (CIA) a shuttle bus or taxi to Termini works best. Either way, on request we can book a private chauffeur (NCC) to/from the airport for you, from €55 one way.

The Colosseum is about 2 km away (a 25-minute walk, or 10 minutes by metro line B). Trevi Fountain is about 1.5 km away (18-20 minutes on foot). The Vatican is further: it's best reached by metro line A, Ottaviano or Cipro stations (about 20-25 minutes).

Beyond the best-known monuments, Rome has several surprising corners: the Coppedè Quarter, a small district with fairytale buildings blending Art Nouveau and Gothic styles; the Orange Garden on the Aventine Hill, with one of the city's most beautiful views, and the nearby Aventine Keyhole, which perfectly frames the dome of St Peter's Basilica; the Galleria Sciarra, a hidden Art Nouveau courtyard just steps from the Trevi Fountain; and the Non-Catholic Cemetery, an evocative spot near the Pyramid of Cestius where Keats and Shelley are buried.

The Basilica of San Clemente, just 300 m from the Colosseum, is built on three layered levels: the 12th-century basilica above, a 4th-century early Christian church below it, and deeper still, a Roman mithraeum and a house from the 1st-2nd century. The Domus Aurea, Nero's underground palace on the Oppian Hill, is visited with headsets that digitally reconstruct the original rooms. The Catacombs of San Callisto, on the Appian Way, are the largest in the city: over 20 km of tunnels across several levels, including the evocative Crypt of the Popes. It's worth booking these visits in advance, especially for the Domus Aurea and the catacombs, which can only be visited on a guided tour.
